Travel Midget Program:
The travel Midget / High School program is designed for the player that wants to play more games, have fun and be competitive. The emphasis is on skill development practicing twice a week and playing one to two games a week. There will be no overnights or Sunday practices or games unless the team is involved in a tournament or league game. The team will only be involved in two to four tournaments. Thirty to thirty five games will be played during the season with 50% at home and 50% within 1 1/2 hours from home ice. One tournament will be hosted at home and the others away. The tournaments and locations are at the discretion of the coach and parents. The will also be responsible to match experience level and competition.
At the end of the first half of the Midget season each player should be able to perform all of the skills taught at the Mite, Squirt, Pee Wee and Bantam level with improved proficiency and with a higher degree of intensity in both practice sessions and games.
At the end of the Midget/High School level, each player should be able to:
A. Execute all previously taught skills with a higher degree of quickness and speed.
B. Demonstrate the basic ability to anticipate play and situations.
C. Perform conditioning and strength skills required by varsity players and actively doing an off-ice strength and flex ability program year round.
D. Demonstrate expanded playmaking on the power play and penalty killing.
E. Demonstrate additional skills in offensive and defensive zone positioning, especially in “set” patterns (ie. 2-2-1).
F. Concentrate on the goaltending skills necessary for varsity competition (for those showing an interest).
G. Consistently demonstrate “Saints Hockey Pride” at all practices, games, around the rink and at school.
Parent Involvement!
We request parent involvement during the hockey season and at fund raisers.
We do not require mandatory hours.
Our association is a fully volunteer family that keeps the rink and concession stand functioning.
Please let us know what area you would like to be involved in: any skills you have, its fun to be involved, share your talents, and support your children in this way.
